Phone System manufacturer Panasonic are planning to acquire the Sanyo Electric Company. Panasonic received the conditional approval from the European Union (EU) and the deal looks set to go ahead at a staggering cost of 806.7 billion yen (around £6 billion) in the largest electronics deal Japan has seen.
If the take-over goes ahead, Panasonic will be acquiring Sanyo’s solar cell technology, making it the biggest rechargeable battery maker in the world. So if you have a Panasonic phone system – or anything Panasonic – get ready for a long, long electronic life!
