As expected – since it was in fact, the only bidder – Iliad SA has won the fourth 3G licence from France’s telecoms regulator. Arcep will be awarding the licence to Iliad SA in January and the company has said that it will launch mobile broadband within two years. Iliad SA is to pay £213 million for the licence and pay around a further £888 million (€1 billion) to build its mobile network.
