Cisco has announced that it will no longer be building WiMAX base stations which makes its $330 million acquisition of Navini Networks in 2007 seem quite pointless now. Ahead of the move into all IP next generation networks, Cisco has been making a concerted effort in the telecommunications arena however, the WiMAX base station operation has been suffering of late and this latest announcement sounds the death knell.
