The next few weeks will see Orange put forward its proposal for a merger with T-Mobile to European regulators. The regulators will then take 25 days to decide whether or not to put the deal through or refer it to the Office of Fair Trading.

Spokespeople from Orange and T-Mobile both stated that they see no problem with the coming merger, claiming that it will strengthen the industry. However other experts in the industry are warning them that gaining approval could be quite tricky as the merger will grant them 39% of the mobile market – putting them ahead of competitors. Although, Orange and T-Mobile may be prepared to make some concessions in order to appease regulators. Watch this space for more merger news!
