BT has recently announced that it has reached its goal of creating 1 million Wi-Fi hotspots. With BT also promising a huge roll out of next generation networks, the Wi-Fi ambition seemed to have slipped everyone’s mind – until now that is!

BT has deployed 3,800 Openzone spots, 137,000 business hotspots and 860,000 public hotspots – and 500,000 of these have happened in the last 6 months. BT has said that the number of Wi-Fi hotspots will continue to grow as smartphone, dongle and iPod usage escalates. Well done BT!
